- An unidentified vessel, laden with a cargo of logs wrecked in Whale Firth, Yell. All aboard perished. According to local tradition, the timber from this vessel's cargo was used in the construction of Windhouse.
- Robert (2) Hunter of Lunna, the fourth Laird Hunter of Lunna House, marries Ursilla, daughter of Robert Bruce of Chalester.

Sarah Marie, with cargo of deals, wrecked at Hillswick, Northmavine.

The St Andrew, a sloop of Northmavine, from Hillswick to Leith, Scotland with a mixed cargo of either butter, oil and wool, or iron, butter and deals wrecked in the Bay of Quendale, Dunrossness. One soul was lost.
