• 6th
  The Joanna En Pietrenella, a hooker registered in The Netherlands, drove ashore at North Haven, Fair Isle. Only the cabin boy was saved, the remainder of the crew perished and were buried on Fair Isle.

• 16th
  The Maria (1816), a full rigged ship laden with salt, of and for Drontheim (now Trondheim), Norway from St Ubes (Setubal)/Lisbon, Portugal wrecked on the Ness of Noonsbrough, Clousta. All of the crew were saved.

May

• 10th
  The Mary (1816), a schooner of Lerwick, wrecked at Garthsbanks in the Bay of Quendale. All of the crew were saved.

December

• 3rd
  The Fairy (1816), a topsail schooner, laden with a cargo of timber, of and for Dundee, Scotland, from Miramichi, New Brunswick, Canada went ashore in the vicinity of Lunda Wick, Unst. All of the crew were saved.
