John Corkish's grave at Måløy Cemetery
- Nine Shetlanders died when the Panama steamer Venus was wrecked near Måløy on the Norwegian west coast. One man, John Corkish, age 56, is buried in 'Måløy Cemetery'. Three of the men, William Davidson, age 30, Magnus Edwardson, age 28, and Charles O'Neil, age 21, are buried in 'Vågsvåg Cemetery', and a memorial stone has been put up there. Of the other five who were never found, two were brothers, Laurence Hunter, aged 33, and Hugh Hunter, aged 31, together with William Forbes, aged 27, James Irvine, age 21, Peter Sim, age 29, all from Lerwick.
