The Bremen a wooden hulled, three masted fully rigged ship, 948/1279 Tons, built in 1868. Owner J. F. Arens, Bremen, Germany, and registered in Bremen. In passage from Bremerhaven, Germany to Baltimore, Maryland, USA with a cargo salt (mainly for ballast) and empty paraffin barrels drove ashore at the south end of Levenwick on February 4th 1881. The vessel was a total loss, and from the crew of twenty, thirteen souls perished, and seven were saved.
