Charles Rampini

Charles Joseph Galliari Rampini - born July 20, 1840, Edinburgh, and died July 25, 1907. Appointed Sheriff-Substitute of Caithness, Orkney and Shetland by Queen Victoria on May 13th, 1878. In later years he would serve as Sheriff-Substitute in other areas of the south.
Sheriff Rampini delivered a two-part lecture entitled "Shetland and the Shetlanders" before the Philosophical Institution of Edinburgh on February 5th and 8th, 1884. It was published shortly afterwards by William Peace & Son, Kirkwall, Simpkin Marshall & Co, London, and John Menzies & Co., Edinburgh.
