The Ireland Methodist Chapel was built in 1859, and is located a short distance north of the settlement of Ireland, Bigton.

A much earlier steepled church, built sometime probably soon after 1150, and similar to the one at Tingwall of the same era, is understood to have existed at Ireland, but no details of it are known.
