Iris Sandison

Shetlopedia - The Shetland Encyclopaedia

Iris Sandison is the author of Ellie an da Sail Needle, a Shetland dialect book for children, telling the story of Ellie's old teddy bear Ted. The book is beautifully illustrated by John Cumming. It also features on the CD A Hansel o Stories, 2 vols, Hansel Cooperative Press, 2005.

Iris is secretary of the Waas (Walls) History Group and an active member of the Shetland ForWirds group. She has also contributed to the Scottish Corpus of Texts and Speech (see links below), where the text of her dialect version of 'The Three Little Pigs' is available.
