James Grierson, born or Baptisted May 25th 1759. (The available records are in dispute), was the eldest son, and second eldest of seven children of Andrew John Grierson and Elizabeth Kelday.

Upon the death of his father Andrew John Grierson, the first Laird of the Grierson of Quendale family estate, at sea in March 1766, James Grierson, at about six years of age, became his successor, and was served as his heir on September 24th 1767 becoming the second Laird of the Grierson of Quendale family estate.

Almost nothing further is recorded concerning the life of James Grierson, and he appears to also have died at a relatively young age, his younger brother Andrew Grierson succeeding him and serving as his heir on March 17th 1807, becoming the third Laird of the Grierson of Quendale family esate.
