Jessie Watt, or 'Jessie Lovie Watt' is a Shetland author and scientist, born in Lerwick. Besides her academic work, Watt has published two novels, Holm Sweet Holm (1994), a historical novel considering the difficulties arising for the fisher families of North East Scotland who moved to Shetland in the late 19thC. and Metal Rose, a modern novel set in the isles.

In 1990 Dr Watt was appointed to oversee the building of the North Atlantic Fisheries College. She continued in this role until May 1992 when Captain Robert Sinclair was appointed as first Principal. She was later appointed to the Crofter's Commission.
