The Pioneer, a sailing smack, Captain Jamieson, carrying a mixed cargo of flour, nets, lines etc drove ashore at a point between Banna Minn and Duncansclett, Burra on either March 1st or 3rd 1880 (the available records are in dispute). All of the crew were saved, as was part of the cargo, but in a damaged state.

The available records are in dispute as to whether this vessel was registered in Leith, Scotland or in Lerwick, and whether she was in passage from Leith, Scotland to Voe or Lerwick to Voe.
