The Dunter III

Seabirds-and-Seals offer guided boat trips from Lerwick around the islands of Bressay and Noss. Sailings are daily at 0930 and 1400 hours between 15 April and 15 September, and on request at other times, year round. Expect to see seabirds, seals and occasional porpoises, otters, dolphins and whales. Details at Seabirds-and-Seals.com

The 12-metre excursion vessel Dunter III has an open deck viewing area, an observation platform and a heated saloon. Display screens show live underwater colour video from a remote controlled mini-submarine. In 2007, all day excursions between Lerwick and Shetland's North Isles were introduced.

  • New for 2008 - A plankton sampling net and microscopic camera, allows the viewing of plankton blown up 200 times on a big screen in the cabin.
