Stromness Voe
Shetlopedia - The Shetland Encyclopaedia
Stromness Voe, (HU385455), is a long narrow inlet on the west coast of the Shetland Mainland, between Strom Ness and White Ness.
Near the head of the voe the tide flows under the Strom Bridge into the Loch of Strom. At periods of high tide the tidal stream can look quite impressive.
At the south end of the voe it narrows to less than 100 metres and there are jetties for transport across the voe to a house called Jackville which is built on Binna Ness, at the south end of Strom Ness, to which there is no road access.
