Recipe 1 - Tablet

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Sugar,
  • 2 oz Margarine,
  • 2 tablespoons Syrup,
  • 1/2 a cup Milk.

Method

  • 1. Put all the ingredients in a pan,
  • 2. Heat slowly stirring so all the sugar dissolves before it boils,
  • 3. Boil for about 15 mintures until golden brown,
  • 4. pour into a greased 9 inch square tin,
  • 5. Leave to cool,
  • 6. when cold cut in squares and enjoy.
Recipe 2 - Shetland Milk Tablet

Ingredients

  • 2 lb Sugar,
  • 4oz Shetland butter,
  • 1 Tin of condensed milk,
  • 1 cup of Shetland milk,
  • 1 teaspoon of Vanilla esence.

Method

  • 1. Put the butter,sugar and shetland milk a pan,
  • 2. Heat slowly stirring to dissolve the sugar,
  • 3. Bring to the boil and boil for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally,
  • 4. Add condensed milk and continue boiling until soft ball stage is reached, ( See Notes )
  • 5. Remove from heat, add vanilla essence and beat until thick,
  • 6. Pour into a greased deep swiss roll tin,
  • 7. leave cool,
  • 8. cut into squares when still a little warm.

Notes

  • To test for soft soft ball stage, put a little of the mix in cold water when cool try roll it into ball.
