Recipe 2 - Shetland Milk Tablet
Ingredients
- 2 lb Sugar,
- 4oz Shetland butter,
- 1 Tin of condensed milk,
- 1 cup of Shetland milk,
- 1 teaspoon of Vanilla esence.
Method
- 1. Put the butter,sugar and shetland milk a pan,
- 2. Heat slowly stirring to dissolve the sugar,
- 3. Bring to the boil and boil for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally,
- 4. Add condensed milk and continue boiling until soft ball stage is reached, ( See Notes )
- 5. Remove from heat, add vanilla essence and beat until thick,
- 6. Pour into a greased deep swiss roll tin,
- 7. leave cool,
- 8. cut into squares when still a little warm.
Notes
- To test for soft soft ball stage, put a little of the mix in cold water when cool try roll it into ball.
