This two pics have a date for the wrecking, and also that she was from Kalmar in Sweden...
Could be right, because it's written on the pics ;-)

The date on the photo agrees with RCAHMS, which is good, two independent sources saying the same thing might just mean it is correct....
There's quite a bit more that can be added to this one from what RCAHMS has, this is one of a few early entries that need going back over now that its known how to find information better.
According to RCAHMS she was bound for Kalmar, not sure if she belonged there or not though, I'll have to read more. She's almost certainly Scandinavian though, Captain's name was Frederiksson.

Fredriksson is VERY Sweedish !!!!!
This picture search has really become funny....and the pages do look better with a pic, it's good that we can use the museum pictures now ;-), but I've found a lot pictures of wrecks that still not are in the category !! endless story....

I'm sure these wrecks must be breeding when my back is turned, it doesn't seem to matter how many I add, there always seems to be more and more of them every time I run a search in RCAHMS. ;-))
Ah, well, they have to end sometime. 500+ and rising, might just make it to that 1000 mark yet.

@ Oddrun,

If I'm making a total hash of your country's geography and history here, you may have me shot, but in my defence this entry now is the best I can do from the conflicting records on RCAHMS and in Larn's book, and Googling placenames.

Some records have her as registered in 'Osterrisor', the only references I can find to such a name is as being the name of what today is 'Risor', prior to 1909. It seems perhaps a little unusual that a ship was owned in one country but registered in another, and that an old name has gone in the record three years after it was formally changed, but both is, and was, probably not entirely uncommon either.

Any input would be apprieciated. Thanks.

As you maybe know, Norway was united with Sweden until 1905, so reg. in one contry and owned in another might have been possible, and if she was registered in Risør, the skips papers would say Østerrisør, because that was the name of the town when she was registered, and I guess that name would be in the insurance papers too...and ofcourse she could also have been registered in Norway first and then registered in Sweden after Norway broke the union,,, and all things like that might confuse the records...I guess we'll never know, at least all agree about the name ;-),

Ooops I suddenly saw there were two variations of the name too..;-)

That's probably the "Advena" we are searching ... see last line of entry ... Islandhopper 01:16, 29 August 2008 (MDT)

YOU ARE CLEVER !!!...I'm ashamed, have never found that site ;-(, saved it to favorites now
AND it is sooooo good to see you back again !!!! We have missed you !!!
