Islandhopper, Not sure if the word 'occasionally' fits in the text, but can't think what word to use. Though the text reads ok without any word, eg. "It was found during gravedigging..."

Also, read a bit about it in "Willie's War". There it says that the gravedigger who found the stone was called Jerry Jamieson. The article also says that "The stone was brought to Lerwick, and for many years was in the lobby of the county buildings." That must have been until the museum was built.

Getting old - just after I had deleted this 'occasionally' thing memmory came back when I wrote about the other stones: It is commonly used within British archaeological literature to indicate that something was found "by chance" and not as a result of a regular dig ... :-) but I'll leave it know as it is because the name and the profession of that man make it clear anyway ;-). Yes,,, now I know, I have heard it before. An "Occasional" dig is basically when someone is digging more for a chance find than on a planned dig.
I knew that sitting for hours watching the National Geographic channel would eventually filter some info into the old brain cell :-)

Changed pic. Hope that it will not cause copyright probs ... still a few years to wait ... ;-) And, yes, the confusion is still working until today ... :-D Islandhopper 10:35, 29 June 2007 (MDT)
