Sand Lodge or Sandlodge?
Our page says Sandlodge.
I know that both terms are used, but a google search reveals certain ducuments of, shall we say a government nature, which support the 'Sandlodge' name. As does all the info available in the Sandwick area.
Undiscovered Scotland, which is about as reliable as the Shetland weather, uses 'Sand Lodge'. And so does that very unreliable author 'Finnie'
Who is right??
And before anybody says anything,, yes, I'm having another go at the bullsquash which is generally available in print. :) :)

Local phone book supports 'Sandlodge', which info would have been supplied by the occupant.

We don't have much info about him, but i remember sometime in the period 1954-57, just after he came back to live full time in Shetland, he gave a talk at the AEI about his working life. I wish I had paid more attention, but do remember that he had been in charge of the railways in Northern Ireland during the war and that he had spent some years in Africa. The period in Africa was post war as he came home with a huge American car which us boys admired greatly. After he sold this car, I remember one of my confederates driving it round the West Dock area, fuelled by paraffin as it was followed by a huge cloud of white smoke ! At that time the police turned a blind eye to what was going on down there of an evening.
- I think I remember something about that car,, must strain braincell memory banks.
I met him once in about 73-74, maybe 75 (Age warps time). He gave me the impression that, although he was obviously of the landed gentry, he was a very amiable person.
