The Description of The Isles of Orknay and Zetland by Sir Robert Sibbald Knt., M.D., printed by Andrew Symson, Edinburgh, in 1711, combined "A Description of the Isles of Orknay" from the manuscript by Robert Monteith, Laird of Egilsha and Gairsa, dated September 24, 1633, and "A Description of the Isles of Shetland" by Sir Sibbald.
A limited edition of 145 copies was printed under the title of "Description of the Islands of Orkney and Zetland" by the antiquarian bookseller Thomas G. Stevenson, Edinburgh, in 1845.
